Omer – Day 18
Barukh ata Adonay, Eloheynu Melekh ha-olam, asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav v’zivanu al s’firat haOmer.
Blessed be the Eternal God, Ruler of the universe, who makes us holy through Mitzvot and has commanded us to count the Omer.
Hayom yom shmona-esrey laOmer shehem shtey shavuot ve arba’a yammim laOmer.
Today is day eighteen of the Omer, which is two weeks and four days of the Omer.
Netzakh be Tiferet – victory within beauty; conquest within grace
I get shocked at moments by the influence I seem to have. I look around and there are all these people doing the activities I suggested, the ones I find beautiful. They’re singing with me, celebrating with me, learning with me, playing the games I enjoy, participating in ritual, walking, going to places I’m excited about; it’s amazing.”Look what I’ve accomplished”, I sometimes say to myself, patting myself on the back in self-congratulation. Until I realize that people aren’t enjoying these activities because I recommended them – they’re enjoying them because the activities are enjoyable.
Beauty – the inner beauty of a right thing – seems to win out. Whenever I wonder if I’m enough to accomplish a thing, I realize that potentially, I don’t have to. All I have to do is participate fully, show the beauty of what I do, and let people see that the world around me is beautiful. I can do that. No matter what, I can do that and when I do, that beauty wins. People choose it and then they too become sources of beauty and positive activity.
Today, I win when I live beautifully.
