Counting the Omer – Day 10
Barukh ata Adonay, Eloheinu, melekh ha’olam, asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al sfirat ha-omer.
Blessed are You, Adonay our God, ruler of the universe, who makes us holy with mitzvot and gives us this opportunity to count the Omer.
Today is day ten which is one week and three days of the Omer. Hayom yom eser she hem shavua ehad vey shlosha yamim laOmer.
Today is Tiferet be Gevura, beauty within strength, harmony within might.
Today, I can’t help but admire once again the beauty of the women I live with. As they manage to accomplish amazing feats of cleaning, work, cooking, and organization – showing an astonishing amount of strength, in all kinds of crazy circumstances – they look more and more beautiful. It’s not necessarily just the strength of muscles, but the might that perseverance brings. I think that’s why people find muscles and, in fact, uniforms attractive. They know that it reflects might and capability, and that looks wonderful. It is an essential step to building harmony too – the chaos that is our life is not easy to manage. Within the strength that it takes to do one more load of dishes and pack just one more box even though it’s late comes the harmony and beauty of one more piece of chaos tamed for the moment.
Today, we notice how beautiful the people around us are – the ones who have the strength to keep doing the needed tasks
